The Community Design Resource Center of Boston (CDRC-Boston) serves the cities, towns, neighborhoods and people of Greater Boston by connecting them with design professionals who can assist with the planning, design and development of communities and community assets across the region. CDRC-Boston helps communities and community organizations become more knowledgeable about the process of creating the built environment so that they can more effectively influence changes in their area.

CDRC-Boston also serves the Greater Boston design community by providing opportunities to engage in the civic life of their communities through design. CDRC-Boston helps familiarize professionals with effective methods for including members of local communities throughout the design and development process. We also showcase the excellent community design work of local professionals in order to highlight best practices in the field.

Finally, CDRC-Boston serves all of our constituents by fostering a greater understanding community design practices locally and nationally and facilitating community and practitioner learning from both our successes and our challenges. We seek to involve the next generation of designers and citizens in this knowledge building, working with higher education and secondary education institutions to strengthen the culture of service learning and participation in public process.

CDRC-Boston 2007-2009 Strategic Plan

In October 2006, CDRC-Boston convened members of its Executive and Advisory Committees and other dedicated volunteers to set goals for the organization's next stage of development. After additional months of review and refinement, CDRC-Boston released its strategic plan in January 2007, setting an ambitious program to become a local and national leader in collaborative design and pro bono professional service.
