Featured Projects and Programs

Since CDRC-Boston was founded, we've had the pleasure of working with many innovative community organizations across Greater Boston, as well as a variety of design professionals and students who have offered their expertise to support the advancement of community groups and non-profits.  In addition, we continue to learn about the exceptional work of design professionals, community development corporations, and other organizations to create sustainable and  equitable built environments around the region and around the country.

Our Featured Projects and Programs section allows us to highlight the outstanding work of these professionals and organizations, celebrating a commitment to community participation in shaping the built environment and to ensuring accessibility to design services for all members of society.  Please check back for ongoing updates to the projects and programs shown on the following pages.

  CDRC-Boston Projects

Columbia Point Community Recreation Area:  CDRC-Boston volunteers are following up a successful charrette process in partnership with the University of Massachusetts Boston in 2006 by providing technical assistance to the Columbia Point Youth Action Team, a group of stakeholders in the neighborhood who are committed to improving recreational facilities and programming for more than 2,000 youth in the Columbia Point area.  The Youth Action Team is working to redevelop the recreational area next to McCormack Middle School  as an initial step to building on-going resources and support for Columbia Point youth.

Room to Dream Foundation:  The Room to Dream Foundation creates healing environments in hospitals, communities, and homes for children and adolescents who are facing chronic illnesses, generating renovated spaces that improve their quality of life, promote strength, imagination, self-worth, and aid in their recovery processes.  In the spring semester of 2007, CDRC-Boston started a partnership with the Foundation and the Boston Architectural College to work on projects in Jamaica Plain and Medway as part of a residential design studio for interior design students.
