Community Design in Practice - the 2nd Community Design Symposium at Build Boston 2007

[Oct-12-2007]

It’s just one month until Community Design in Practice, the 2nd Community Design Symposium at Build Boston 2007!

On Thursday, November 15th, CDRC-Boston will welcome local and national practitioners and community members to a full-day of education and training on community participation techniques, in partnership with our host, the Boston Society of Architects, and co-sponsors the Association for Community Design; Public Architecture; and the Social/Economic/Environmental Design (SEED) Network.

Registration for the symposium is open now! The discount registration deadline is October 19th. A full listing of sessions can be found at www.buildboston.com/community; you can register for individual sessions or for the full day. Sessions include highlights and lessons learned from CDRC-Boston projects; national and international examples of community participation techniques; and insights from Boston-area building professionals on the philosophy and practice of people-centered design for buildings and neighborhoods.

Another easy way to participate in the symposium is through volunteering; volunteers can sign up to help with the full day or with individual sessions. In addition to attending the sessions for which they provide assistance, volunteers can also earn other free sessions at Build Boston. For more information about volunteering, visit www.buildboston.com/ri_fw.asp.

Finally, young professionals are particularly encouraged to participate in the Community Design Symposium and other events at Build Boston 2007; the Tony Platt Build Boston Scholarships provide full tuition for a workshop, and you may apply for multiple sessions. Additional details and the scholarship form can be found at www.buildboston.com/ri_sch.asp.

We look forward to seeing you in November!
