March 11 Workshop: Community Engagement for the Built Environment

[Mar-4-2009]

Coming Up … Community Engagement for the Built Environment

Growing numbers of design professionals are looking to integrate work with communities into their professional practice; but what does it mean to really engage the community in a project? How does design connect to some of the most challenging issues our communities are facing?

On March 11 from 6 to 8 pm, the CDRC-Boston and the Boston Society of Architects Career Resources Network co-sponsor a skill-building workshop, "Community Engagement for the Built Environment," held at The Architects Building, 52 Broad Street, Boston. The free workshop covers the key steps in an effective community design process and other practical advice and tools from experienced local leaders in community design and development. Sharing their expertise at the workshop will be David Gamble, AIA, AICP, LEED AP, Senior Associate at Chan Krieger Sieniewicz; Sean Solley, Assistant Professor of Interior Design at Suffolk University’s New England School of Art and Design; and Ann Houston, Executive Director of Chelsea Neighborhood Developers.

Whether you’re new to community participation in design or just brushing up on your skills, come and contribute your knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to the conversation. RSVP to rsvp@architects.org or 617-951-1433 x221 by 9:30 am on the day of the workshop.
