Pizza & Design Opportunities with CDRC-Boston!

[Oct-6-2009]

New Design Opportunities & Pizza!

We have a wide array of design opportunities this
fall located in a variety of areas throughout Greater Boston. On Tuesday, October 13th, we will be holding an evening event to provide designers the opportunity to hear all five projects and communicate with the clients directly.

Please join us on Tuesday, October 13, 6 pm at the Boston Society of Architects building for a presentation on 5 different projects that are in
need of pro bono design service.

Projects include:

  • Building reuse and urban design in Braintree (Town of Braintree)
  • Open park space  design project in Chelsea (City of Chelsea and Chelsea Neighborhood Developers)
  • Architectural design/intervention in Mattapan (Education and Careers Collaborative, Inc./ Casa de Yemaya)
  • Updating of a streetscape in Dorchester (Four Corners Main Streets)
  • Usable space expansion for existing structure in the South End (United South End Settlements)
Clients will give a brief presentation on their project needs allowing for a Q&A session by the volunteer designers. Complimentary pizza and soft drinks will be served.

Your RSVP is required to attend this event to allow us to order enough pizza! Please RSVP to info@cdrc-boston.org along with your resume or simplified portfolio.

CDRC-Boston and the BSA host a
Thanksgiving Basket Drive Competition

Would you like to express your artistic flair this Thanksgiving season while also contributing to those in need? CDRC-Boston is hosting a Thanksgiving Basket design drive in collaboration with Jake Kennedy of Kennedy Brothers Physical Therapy and Christmas in the City founder (www.christmasinthecity.org) Andrew Koh to give donated food baskets an architectural touch this holiday season. We are asking Greater Boston area architect firms to not only donate a thanksgiving basket (turkey, fixings, side dishes, desserts), but to exercise their architectural skills in making their baskets a work of art!

The baskets will be juried and awards given to the most creative basket. The container(s) must be able to be carried by an individual and provide not only food but all the trimmings and special touches that make Thanksgiving such a special time.

Baskets should be delivered by Friday, November 20th, 2009 to

Kennedy Brothers Physical Therapy (@ Downtown Crossing)
45 Franklin Street
Boston, MA 02110
