Donor Spotlight

Leers Weinzapfel Associates Architects

Award-winning design firm Leers Weinzapfel Associates Architects (LWA) has been a regular supporter of CDRC-Boston for several years now. Like all firms that make giving a regular part of their business model, the folks at LWA choose to give to organizations they care about. LWA recognizes the significant impact pro bono community design has on our community at large and has chosen to donate to CDRC-Boston.

As every Boston area design professional knows, the current economic crisis has hit the design community especially hard. CDRC-Boston's volunteer base includes many who have been impacted by this crisis allowing them to continue working in their profession, albeit pro bono. Nevertheless, not only do professional designs help organizations articulate their needs to those from whom they require support, they also have the potential to open up opportunities for all building professionals once these projects gain the funds and support necessary for them to be realized.

NEI General Contracting

NEI is a first class, full service general construction company offering owners and developers a fast-paced quality approach to any type of construction need. NEI recognizes that pro bono community design is vital and must continue on its current course to help reduce the financial burdens on those with limited means. "CDRC-Boston is an essential bridge for connecting community based ideas and inspiration to actual bricks and mortar," said Joe Rettman, Project Executive at NEI. "Without CDRC-Boston, the once vibrant areas that fell victim to urban blight would not have the grass roots participation & support needed to revitalize. NEI wants to support and be involved in these types of changes to the social fabric so that we can help foster in a better tomorrow."

The greatest hurdle in community development is moving from an idea to actuality. The upfront costs and early seed money for a project are the most difficult to come by especially in revitalizing areas whose market value does not attract an upfront investment. Without this seed money, many community based projects would never get built. Rettman further explains, "As professionals in the field of construction, we feel it is the duty of firms like ours to assist in getting through this early process to the funding round where the funds for building become a reality. Without the willingness of the pro-bono crowd, many of our great community projects would never get built.

Please help us expand our efforts by making a tax deductible donation today. No amount is too small (or large)!
